We want to be good therapists. We want to be ethical. We want to make a living. There are no contradiction in these things. We have a value. We do not have to be “on the insurance panels” to do well if we add value in terms our customers understand. But we have to know how to present our services and knowledge to the public. In terms focused on your customer and your value…not what’s important to you but to your potential customers. If you are in practice you are, whether you like it or not, in business and in sales and marketing. I’ll be on the lookout for news, views, stories, issues and yes, even the research evidence on “making a living” as a psychologist, counselor, social worker or others with similar training.
